Newmarket was founded in 1801 and has a growing population of 73,000. Newmarket is only 54 kms north of Toronto with direct access to highway 404 and close proximity to highway 400. It offers a quieter, family-friendly community for GO train commuters and in-town businesses alike.
With its excellent public school system, notable private schools and the renowned Pickering College, the town maintains its youthful energy with 70 parks, 40 baseball diamonds, 60 soccer fields and 800 acres of active parkland. Fine dining can be easily found throughout the town; performing and fine arts events attract regular sell-out crowds; and its hospital, Southlake Regional, is ranked one of the best in York Region.
